More about Santa Maria

Meet the girls!06/20/26Well, we had a little "oopsie" we just realized Santa and her girls had NOT been posted online for months! For anyone reading this bio for this mamasita know that is prob why they are listed as notes from back in february. Here is what their fsoter mom has to say about this beautiful tabby. 'Santa' is a very chill young adult cat with impecable manners. She is gentle,  silly at times, loves to sleep and nap (especially up high like top of the kitchen cabinets or cat tree) has the cutest little meow so the rate times she speaks don't be suprised if it sounds like a baby kitten. She is at casa de arwob which means she lives with her daughter Pina and Nina which are almost carbon copies of mom BUT the difference is the nose color and white markings in the face. She needs to be adopted into a home with different cats or as a single cat. She CAN at times bully her daughter Pinta, well, both nina and Santa bully Pinta and for that reason would love to find a foster for Pinta or the girls. She does NOT bully any of the other cats in the homes so its a 'family matter'. She is the type of cat who is gentle, calm and smart. She is on her own most of the day but several times a day she will come and find you by jumping on your lap and seek loving pets/kisses. She will occassionally also chill by your computer while you work. And she will randomely get the zoomies and play with toys in the floor specifically anything large like a tennis ball she can bunny kick. She also was likely a great hunter in her past as a stray so she loves the lazer pen and wands with feathers to 'hunt'. She is super loving and in the morning will jump on the counter to greet you.She would be an amazing cat for anyone who just wants ONE pet at home. She does live with cats and is perfect at litter box usage, she won't take any sass from any cats BUT she won't start anything either (at least not among the other almost 2 digit kitties at casa de arwob)she has ZERO interest in dogs. when the foster dogs enter the livingroom she excuses her self up high counters and although not 'stressed/bothered' she is not interested in becoming friends and say 'tootles!" We suspect she will be great with children as she is easy to approach, pick up and pet. DO KNOW - She is the FIRST cat to run and high when people enter the home. She will either jump high on the kitchen cabinet, hide under something or rare occassion we have seen her open the kitchen cabinet under the sink and close it back up ha hawhich means, she will NOT show well. Do NOT expect a firework meeting. If you choose a forever pet by the initial interaction "connection" you will NOT find it in her. It WILL take her days if not a week to trust and start roaming the room or house. We are seeking someone interested in doing a foster to adopt trail for 2 weeks or more AND someone who understand this personality and will help her feel comfortable to come out of her shell to bond with her human(s). She is a healthy, UTD, Felv/FIV tested negative beautiful sweet girl and if interested please submit an application online at arwob.org3/6/26Update - Mama is weary and shy in her new environment but once she feels comfortable she loves to explore, she is the type of kitty who likes to perch, wether it be on your lap/chest/shoulder or the highest area in the house. She is a very quiet kitty and very people friendly and loving. If you don't like lap cats, this girl is NOT for sure..she can be stuborn once she trusts and feels comfortable with you. This beautiful trio of girls (Mom - Santa Maria and her daughters - Pinta and La Nina) came to ARWOB late January when we received a plea for help from the neighbor of her owner. These girls owner was an elderly lady who lived alone and had taken the mama cat in when she was found in the streets with her kittens who where just born. Several kititens had not made it but these 2 kittens had and where taken in by her to nurture them. She built a catio for them in her condo and kept them there since she was allergic to cats. Sadly, she passed away in December 2025 and the cats where left in the catio until they figured out what to do with them. After 2 months of feeding them and checking in on them trying to have local city shelters to take them in and nothing. They finally reached out to rescue groups. We had room and took them in. They are now fully vetted and ready for a home!2/23/26The girls are living at casa de arwob in the cat room on their own. Santa Maria and Nina are VERY social and loving towards humans, gentle kitties. Mom wants nothign to do with her girls and tolerates them so she would be best as an only cat. She will need someone who will give her time to acclimate as her first instinct is to hide or climb on high areas. Nina is very outgoing seeking pets. She likely would be a good kitty for a home with other cats as she is very indifferent to them. We have yet to see both sisters interact mainly because Pinta will need a VERY experienced cat person, she is an angel but VERY shy. She will enjoy being petted but when she is let down into the ground she will seek refuge into a a cubby or under something. She would be fine with other cats but likely will ignore them until she feels comfortable. ALL 3 girls can be adopted as singletones. Likely no dogs or children for Pinta but Santa and Nina could get used to easy going kids/dogs with time. We can certainly see the girls seeking attention and playing when they feel comfortable which can take a month or longer.
