More about Brooks

From Brooks 1st foster family: This boy loves people and likes to give hugs by putting his front paws on your shoulders and squishing his face into yours.  He is extremely affectionate and very silly.  He loves to play too. In his foster home he did well with the resident dog.  He would probably be okay with a calm dog in the home.  He does nip when he doesn't like being contained and doesn't know his own strength so it can hurt.  That seems to settle down once he has his freedom but pickup when he wants to play and he may tell you no with a nip.  He needs to learn from his people with a firm "NO" when that happens so he doesn't continue thinking that is okay.  His foster mom said this most recently:  I think Brooks will be a great cat but don’t recommend him in a home with small children. He has the free roam of the house and is so sweet. Gets along with the resident cat, my dog and enjoys venturing around the house. He does have a drive to try and go through doorways so I’m super careful about opening the front door. I think he wouldn’t hesitate to go outside.  He was outside when he was found.  He has been great inside but will likely remain a door dasher so caution is necessary.   And someone that will activtely play with him a couple times a day to help get his energy out will really be necessary for this active boy.Now let's not sugar coat Mr Brooks because he is going to take the right adopter!  From Brooks 2nd foster family: Brooks likely would benefit from being in an indoor/outdoor home where he can spend his days getting his energy out climbing trees, etc.  The naughty singleton syndrome seems to have escalated during this break from a cage and he exhibits extreme behaviors.  He can be extremely sweet and affection and then just the opposite.  He did not like the cats in my home although he did well with a cat and a dog in his previous home.  He attacked both my cats and was very rough and they ran off screaming.  He might benefit most from a cat who matches his energy level or a dog but it would definitely take slow introductions.  He does not like to be disciplined so it will take someone extremely understanding to redirect his behavior and learn that the naughtiness is not a game.  That can be hard to do when he latches onto your ankle or hand.  He has no fear either.      Meet Brooks by completing our online adoption application.  All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.
