More about Louise

Adopt Louise! Affectionately known as Weezy, she is a female Great Pyrenees and is around one and a half yrs old, 85lbs.  She is the kind of dog who turns heads and her gentle, loyal nature really stays with you.  Still young, Louise is at that wonderful in-between stage, still playful and curious, but settling into herself and learning how to be a steady companion.  When she first came into foster care, she was still figuring things out. Since then, she's quietly grown into herself and it's been a joy to watch. Once she feels settled, she forms a close bond with her people and dogs.  She's a smart girl and a creature of habit in the best way. She quickly learns the rhythm of a home and leans into it. Mealtimes and snack breaks are her favorite and she'll show up right on cue, tail wagging. If treats are involved, you'll get the classic Pyr paw.  Louise is easy to live with, she knows how to relax and be part of the home. She takes her watchdog role seriously and will let you know when someone has arrived, like the Amazon driver, but she's not over the top about it for a Pyrenees.  Outside is where she really lights up. She is just as happy playing in the rain as she is on a sunny day. She loves to run, stretch her legs, and play with other dogs. Chasing her foster brother around the yard or keeping a close eye on the squirrels is her idea of a good time.  Louise has put in real work while in foster care. Early on, she showed some resource guarding with food and high value treats, but with consistency and trust she as made significant progress. She wants to please and responds well with calm steady guidance.  With other dogs, she does well with slow introductions. She can be a bit confident with other females and may try to take the lead, but she is very comfortable with large males. She gets along great with the large male dog in her home.  She's had some exposure to cats and is mostly indifferent, though slow introductions are still important.  Louise would be happiest with a family that understands the Great Pyrenees nature and will give her a little time to adjust. Because of her size and energy, she'll do best in a home with kids over 10.  She may not show you everything on day one but give her a chance and she will become a really special family member.  Louise is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She is currently in a foster home in DFW area, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging their own transport. Her adoption fee is $250.  Apply to meet and adopt Louise at www.spinrescue.org
