More about Winnie

Location: Pittsburgh, PA My name is Winnie and I am a 1.5 year old female blue heeler looking for a forever family! My foster parents say I am a very good girl. I am friendly with strangers, good with other dogs, good with kids, and ignore cats! I am spayed and have all my vaccines. I have a few days left on an antibiotic for Lyme, but otherwise the vet says I am a very healthy girl!  I have been so great in my foster home! I am fully house-trained. I have ZERO destructive tendencies (except dog toys). I am pretty easy to walk on leash. I don’t guard my treats or toys. I don’t even beg for food! I am very smart and quickly mastered: sit, down, stay, and more! I am so much fun to be around! Like a typical 1-year-old heeler, I need daily mental stimulation, physical exercise, and play. I have a lot of energy and love running, hiking, and training with my foster parents. My foster mom says I could even be an amazing dog sport prospect! But once all of my needs are met, I have a good “off” switch and am happy to relax on the couch. I am even able to relax in the office while my foster Dad works from home. I absolutely love affection and do want to be in your lap for pets and snuggles!  I am still working on a few things with my training! I sleep well in my crate overnight, but can take me a few minutes to settle in. I’m still learning that I can’t always be involved in the action, so we’re practicing things like being calm on a tether and respecting gates. I can get a little too enthusiastic about my toys. I may bark or jump when my excitement bubbles over. Luckily, I’m very smart, eager to learn, and improve quickly with consistency and gentle guidance. I am going to be an amazing dog for an active family. My foster parents say someone is going to be so lucky to have me!
