More about GUNNER
04/14/26Meet Gunner! - Your new best friend! When this sweet boy first came into the shelter he was scared and shut down. He used to sit frozen in his kennel, but now he sits at the front of the kennel greeting everyone that walks by. He has been watching people walk by his kennel for almost 3 months now and he continues to wait patiently for his new family to adopt him. This sweet boy loves getting out of the kennel. Gunner does not seem interested in playing fetch but throwing a ball has been known trigger some zoomies. He has been known to pull on the leash so we walk him with a harness at the shelter. This is recommended for in the home as well. Gunner will just be happy to be on a walk with you.02/22/26 09:48 MHGunner is a sensitive, affectionate boy who bonds closely with his people. He may seem a little unsure at firstâoffering a bit of whale eye or a cautious barkâbut once he feels comfortable, he quickly warms up and leans in for love. Butt scratches are his favorite, and heâs happy to soak up gentle affection. Heâs easy to leash and enjoys getting out for walks.Gunner has shown some leash reactivity toward other dogs, especially in close quarters, and he appears to prefer calm introductions and space from canine neighbors (heâs not a fan of smaller dogs). With thoughtful management and consistency, he can pass or greet some dogs without reacting. A home that can provide structure and guidance on walks will help him succeed. In the kennel, Gunner has shown stress at times, but heâs also made great progress and has had calm, relaxed days. Once outside, heâs eager to explore. He may pull on leash, so using a clip leash on his current harness is recommended. He has a sensitive trachea, so gentle handling on walks is important.Gunner knows âsitâ and enjoys liver treats (he can be a bit picky otherwise). Heâs not big on toys or fetch, but tossing a ball can spark some joyful zoomies! He may be okay with cats, per previous owner report.Gunner would thrive in a patient, understanding home that will give him time to settle in and continue building confidence. If youâre looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little reassurance to shine, Gunner might be your guy.02/02/26 13:55Dog was owner surrendered. At the shelter, Gunner has FAS score of 4. He is sitting on his bed shaking and not approaching staff.
