Rowan (A566283) is a 3yo, 55lbs, brown merle pitbull terrier mix. Rowan came to the shelter as a stray on January 5th, 2026. https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/PGEO/A566283I hadn’t planned on walking Rowan, but happened to turn around and see his sweet face, so calm in his kennel, and couldn’t help but give him the walk he turned out to need so much. I don’t like to promise that a dog is house trained, but any time they have a clean kennel and they go potty not one, not two but FIVE times when we are out on a walk, I would put money on them having previous house training. You see dogs who’ve been house trained often hold it as long as they can possibly hold it, and then when they do get a walk they try to get it all out because they don’t know when they’ll get to go out again.Rowan was easy on the leash, unbothered by the other barking dogs in their kennels when we walked past. He is a little low rider who has bright eyes and who gave me very sweet kisses and leaned against me with his little body when I crouched down to his level.Rowan has previously attended playgroup but got in an altercation when notes indicate “he doesn’t like other dogs in his space”. Based on that experience, I don’t think he’d do well at a dog park or in a multi-dog household. I’m not sure how he would do with a similarly matched canine companion when properly introduced as I didn’t have any chance to observe him with other dogs.I hope that Rowan finds a placement with a great family, one who will take him outside to go potty regularly and who will allow him to lean against them and snuggle when he wants to seek comfort.
