This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 24th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $750 Meet Milkshake   Milkshake is a petite 2–3 year old Maltipoo weighing just 8.5 pounds who came to DPS via our rescue partners in Southern California after her owners could no longer care for her. She’s a gentle, low-key little dog with a soft presence, a non-shedding coat, and an easy routine, making her a wonderful candidate for almost any dog-loving home.   Daily Routine & Care Milkshake starts her day around 7:30 a.m. with a quick trip outside to take care of business, followed by breakfast. She has made it very clear that kibble is not her thing— she will politely spit out NutriSource kibble—but she happily eats canned dog food and cleans her bowl when that’s on the menu. After breakfast, she enjoys a short walk around the neighborhood.   The rest of her day is spent lounging while her foster works, either relaxing in her crate or hanging out nearby. She receives a few treats throughout the day and is taken outside to potty every 3–4 hours, though she doesn’t need frequent breaks. Dinner is served between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m., and she heads into her crate around 10:30 p.m., where she sleeps quietly and soundly through the night.   Personality Milkshake is naturally sweet and enjoys cuddling and gentle pets. She’s the kind of dog who bonds well and appreciates a calm, reassuring presence. Once comfortable, she enjoys being close and soaking up attention without being demanding. She's not the dog who is going to run right up to you and beg for attention, but she'll do so in her own quiet way, and she's sure to win you over immediately.   Socialization Milkshake lives with an 11-year-old, 18-pound terrier who has a big-dog personality. The two dogs coexist peacefully but don’t interact much, largely due to their very different play styles. She met a cat at our Safehouse and walked up to her politely, sniffed her behind, and then ran back to the humans to ask for more pets :).   Energy Level & Play Style Milkshake is a true lounger and couch potato. She is not particularly energetic and does not show much interest in toys, fetch, or active play. She is also not very treat motivated. What she truly enjoys is calm companionship and being doted on. She’s happiest when relaxing and receiving affection.   On the Leash She can be a bit hesitant when first heading out on a walk and may stop and sit at the beginning, but with patience she gets going and walks nicely. She doesn’t pay much attention to other dogs passing by and keeps her focus on the walk itself.   Housebreaking & Manners Milkshake is fully housebroken and has not had issues with accidents in the home. She does not use a doggie door but does very well with a consistent potty schedule. She has not displayed any destructive behaviors— no chewing, digging, or excessive barking.     Why Milkshake Milkshake is sweet, gentle, and incredibly easy to care for. She asks for very little and gives quiet companionship in return.
