More about Ginger

To adopt please fill out an adoption Application  Ginger is an 18 month old female lab mix who was rescued as a stray in Memphis. It was evident that Ginger had recently had puppies but it’s unknown what happened to her babies. Initially, she was trembling with fear, but within a few days Ginger learned to trust her foster family and now is very close and affectionate with them. Gentle, sweet and friendly. A little shy at first with strangers. Good with other dogs and living with 2 other dogs in her foster home. Not cat tested. No history with kids. Very active outside, still has a lot of puppy left in her.  Settles down quickly inside, quiet and well-mannered, good house manners. Affectionate with her people and loves to cuddle. Crate trained and housebroken. Initially, Ginger was somewhat food aggressive with the other dogs but with correction she’s pretty much abandoned that behavior; however, she does prefer to eat her food in the crate. Uses the doggy door. Obeys basic commands.  Good on a leash, rides great in the car.  Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots.. Weighs about 55 pounds. It’s evident that Ginger was well cared for in her early months because she’s basically a sweet, gentle dog; but somewhere along the line she was abandoned and had a rocky time and lost trust in many humans. Ginger’s ideal adopter will understand that she has trust issues and be willing to work with her to continue her socialization recovery.  Here’s a note from her foster mom:   At the beginning of December, a dog was sleeping in my side yard. It got too cold for her to stay outside, so I let her come into my house to keep warm and safe. She appears to have been bred and then abandoned. She is loving, cuddly, playful, but definitely scared at first meeting. Once she's comfortable with you, she doesn't leave your side. She is also really good with other dogs. I have two, and she plays with them as they have always known each other. Ginger is a sweet, gentle, affectionate young lab mix and she will make a wonderful companion for an active family.
