Foster Home Feedback ** Older, Considerate Children Only 3/11/2026 Volunteer Feedback: I took Guthrie for a kennel break a couple days ago. He’s the best boy ever and I want him to find a forever home as soon as possible. Guthrie is the definition of a gentle giant! His love of humans cannot be overstated. When he was picked up from boarding for a kennel break, he happily pranced to the car like he was ready for any adventure that might come. Guthrie is a huge fan of car rides, specifically sniffing out of the window. He is always down for a walk and listens so well. He is mostly motivated by positive feedback and cheese, but redirection isn’t really needed as he is well-trained. Guthrie is a very polite boy. He was able to settle in and adjust quickly to his surroundings at the apartment. He thoroughly enjoyed lying on the couch and watching TV after a long day of playing with his toys (Guthrie has specific names for each toy). He has the sweetest nature and won’t hesitate to give the biggest puppy-dog eyes when he wants to sit by you or go for a walk. Guthrie truly is an incredible dog and to know him is to love him. He’d be a wonderful addition to your home! 2/1/26 Volunteer Feedback: Guthrie is a sweet, big‑hearted boy who falls in love with every person he meets. The moment he steps out of his kennel, he heads straight for the nearest human, leaning in with all the affection he can offer—as if greeting you is the best part of his day. If you’re looking for a dog who truly adores people, Guthrie is your guy. He’s also an enthusiastic outdoor adventurer. Whether he’s romping through the yard or bounding joyfully through fresh snow, Guthrie brings an infectious, tail‑wagging energy to every outing. Despite his larger size, he’s a dream on a leash, walking with a calm, steady pace that makes every stroll easy and enjoyable. And if you want to win his heart instantly, just bring out the peanut butter—his absolute favorite treat. Guthrie is ready to be someone’s loyal, loving companion, filling every day with joy, warmth, and a whole lot of charm. 1/19/26 Former Adopter Feedback: Guthrie is a sweet dog with a passive temperament who just wants to be part of the family. He is gentle with his favorite stuffed toys and loves to sleep close to his humans, either cuddled up with them or resting nearby. Training Guthrie has its challenges since he’s not very food motivated, making new commands tricky. He’s crate trained and tolerates baths, even if he’s not a fan. He shows his feelings through expressive, soulful puppy eyes rather than aggression. Nail trims go smoothly with a bit of peanut butter as a distraction. Guthrie has started to give cues that he is uncomfortable around small children, so it is in his best interest that he finds a home with older or no children. He has spent time with teenagers and enjoyed their company. He enjoys walks but tends to pull on the leash and needs gentle reminders. At the dog park, he shines playing fetch enthusiastically. Guthrie’s charming habit of delicately taking treats with the tips of his front teeth upon hearing “Take it nice” melts hearts. He’s a special dog with lots of love to give. If you’re ready for a loyal companion who will shower you with affection and quiet devotion, Guthrie could be the perfect match.
