More about ROXIE

04/09/26This gorgeous girl is looking for her new forever home. Will that be you?Roxie is a 1 year old land seal that just loves to see the joy in life. She loves spending time with people and even likes to go into the kiddie pool! She can get a little over excited, but once she's gotten her zoomies and sniffies out Roxie is more than happy to get pets from you. This sweet girl sits quietly and patiently in her kennel, watching people walk by hoping that they will be her next family.Roxie loves her walks and is always excited to leave the kennel. She has been noted to have high prey drive and some dog reactivity so she would do best in a home where she is your only pet and best friend. When we have introduced her to other dogs, she has been noted to be overaroused at the gate and too frontal once inside the yard. So if your friends have dog please be sure to introduce them slowly. This wonderful dog has been at the shelter for so long and yet she still dreams of the day where her new family will come in and adopt her. Will you be the one to make this amazing girl's dreams come true?02/25/26Meet Roxie – The Strong, Socially Intense Girl! Roxie is a 1-year-old, spayed Pit Bull with a big personality and a strong physical presence. She keeps a tidy kennel and may be house trained, showing quiet, calm behavior when approached briefly for outings. When her leash is introduced, she becomes very excited and gives full-body wags once her kennel door is opened. While out for potty walks, Roxie pulls hard on leash in general, especially toward other dogs. She is very reactive on leash and at barriers, showing intense focus and arousal when she sees dogs in neighboring yards. When in close proximity to another dog, she has shown piloerection with an upward-wagging tail, and may vocalize or pull hard to reach them. At times she has displayed very severe leash biting, and it is recommended she be walked with two leashes or toys as redirection tools.Roxie seems to do better with staff she sees frequently, and she responds well to familiar people. However, her leash and barrier reactivity are strong, and while she is improving, her behavior can easily backslide in a stressful shelter environment. She is very sweet with people and shows excitement and engagement with handlers, but due to her intense dog reactivity and strength on leash, Roxie would benefit most from an experienced adopter who understands high-drive dogs and reactive behavior.04/14/26What I did today:I rode to my adventure very politely in the car, ready to take on the day! We headed to a quiet, low-traffic area so I could enjoy my walk without getting too overstimulated — turns out a little calm goes along way for a girl like me. I soaked up lots of lovely scratches, showed off my `sit` for treats, and I even found a turtle! What to know about this dog:• Small but mighty — can be a strong puller when excited• Gets very excited around other dogs — barks and pulls strongly toward them; prefers low-traffic, calm walks• Has prey drive — would do best in a cat-free home• Sweet, people-loving, and treat-motivated — knows `sit`, snugglyThree words to describe me:Sweet, Energetic, Playful
