More about Take Off (Special Needs)
Take Off is a handsome 4-year-old dude looking to cruise into his forever home! He's a pro at giving you looks full of attitude but is truly a playful lovebug. This charming fellow is playful and likes to hang around near or cuddle with his foster. He will watch your back when you're busy with tasks like doing the dishes, so be mindful where you step! He enjoys playing in the cat tunnel, ball track toys, kicker toys, wand chasers, and of course catnip. Shortly after initiating pets, he will plop down and show his belly. He likes a bit of belly rubs and really seems to like chin scratches. His foster works from home and he enjoys relaxing in the spot normally occupied by a keyboard so he can partially rest on the foster's arm and get pets. He can be a purring machine and enjoys lap cuddles sometimes (must be on his terms of course). He'll also cross his front paws when resting like a distinguished gentleman.Take Off is a medium-energy cat who enjoys lots of stimulation and interactive playtime with throwing toys (any catnip toys, balls, or springs) and wand chasers. He would do best in a home with forever humans who work from home or are around a lot, so he can get sufficient attention and cheerfully keep his people company. It is recommended that he is not in a home with kids unless they are older and able to understand cat cues. Having various fun, engaging playthings around the house will help with his energy levels and redirect him as needed. He does well on his own and with the 2 resident cats. He would likely not be a good fit with a small, shy or easily scared cat since he's a larger cat and likes to wrestle. A larger, chill, confident, friendly cat who likes to play would be a better fit. (He’s never met a dog before.)This lovely boy had a vet stay 2 days after coming into care for a urinary blockage, so he's on prescription urinary food and his litter box needs to be monitored to ensure he's urinating normally. He gets medications/supplements mixed in with his wet food twice a day to help him with anxiety and stress, which are important to manage with his history of urinary issues. He also visits the vet monthly for Solensia injections that have been a great help in reducing the pain and sensitivity he experienced on his low back. It is recommended that his forever family continue with the medications, urinary food, and injections to manage his anxiety, stress, and spine sensitivity.Take Off is a food motivated guy, but he is a unique cat because he doesn't care for Churus! He will be up for trying to steal some meat or seafood (raw or cooked) and butter if left unattended on the counters. He does like Instinct Raw Boost Mixers and Sheba Meaty Chicken Sticks for a treat. While Take Off had a rough start and it took a while to build trust with his foster, being in foster care, all the vet visits, and multiple respite stays with a different foster have greatly helped him become a more relaxed, social boy. He loves to be nearby at all times and has favored sleeping on a blanket covered pillow at the head of the bed. Take Off really needs continued love, patience, and compassion from his forever family to continue gaining confidence and a family willing to use tools to channel his energy so he is constantly reminded that so many people can be good and kind. He has come a long way in foster care! If you’re ready to launch into an adventure of kindness, growth, and compassion, please consider adding Take Off to your family!---Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat?
