Spike is at the shelter through no fault of his own. His beloved person passed away, a difficult transition for any dog, especially one who clearly knew the comfort of a loving home. Despite everything, Spike remains incredibly sweet, social, and full of life. At 10 years old, he behaves and carries himself like a dog much younger, with a balanced energy level and a gentle, easygoing nature. During a recent adoption event and day trip with a volunteer, Spike charmed everyone he met. He happily greeted strangers, rode comfortably in the car, and showed just how much he enjoys being around people. Affection comes naturally to him, and he is always ready to offer a wagging tail or a few friendly kisses. Spike walks nicely on leash, enjoys outings, and is simply a lovely companion to spend time with. He is the kind of dog who settles in beside you and makes a space feel warmer. Spike has already known love and companionship. He is hoping to find that again with someone ready to give a wonderful senior dog the home he deserves.
