(Do NOT leave dry food out all the time!)   Tomahawk is a handsome gray domestic shorthair with a gentle soul and a past that’s shaped who he is today. He came from a home with 34 other cats, and while he’s come a long way since then, he’s still learning how to trust people at his own pace. At first, Tomahawk can be very shy and may react defensively when he feels scared or overwhelmed. But with patience, consistency, and a calm environment, he truly blossoms. After a few months in a stable foster home, he relaxed, opened up, and discovered that he loves gentle pets and being near his people. He may never be the type of cat who enjoys being picked up or held, but he’s absolutely the type who will sit nearby, accept affection, and enjoy your company. Tomahawk’s favorite things in the world include wet food and string toys—the quickest ways to his heart! He’s also a big fan of other cats and would thrive in a home with a confident feline friend to help him continue building trust but would also do okay by himself in the right home. Because he startles easily and may become reactive when frightened, Tomahawk needs a home without children. He has never lived with dogs, so his feelings about canine companions are unknown. Tomahawk is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who can give him the time he needs to feel safe. Once he trusts you, you’ll see the sweet, affectionate cat he truly is.
