After a past that didn’t always put her needs first, she’s now learning how wonderful warm blankets, gentle voices, and full tummies can be—and she’s doing a great job. This calm little lady has perfected the art of cozy naps and can usually be found snoozing in the warmest spot she can find. Esme loves treats (seriously, treats are her love language!) and has discovered that they pair quite nicely with gentle belly rubs. She does well settling into a crate, rides nicely in the car, and is slowly warming up to spending time outside, even joining the other dogs for short adventures and the occasional happy dash. Esme has a low energy level and enjoys a peaceful, low-key lifestyle. She does best when kept on a consistent routine, with the understanding that there will always be a transition period as she adjusts to a new home. She gets along well with other dogs and would benefit from a calm canine companion to help guide her. As a mill momma, Esme is still learning that human touch is kind and safe. Loud noises can startle her, so a quieter home with a patient, mill-dog-experienced adopter would be ideal. She is comfortable being alone for short periods, making her a good match for someone with a relaxed or part-time schedule. Given time, patience, and lots of love, this deserving momma will continue to blossom into the sweet companion she was always meant to be.
