More about Ellie in TN - Sweet As Sugar!

Meet Ellie, a sweet-as-sugar Great Pyrenees girlie with a big personality! This cheerful pup is all smiles when she greets you, leaning in to get pets and affection with the devotion of a dog who would follow her people to the end of the earth. Ellie came to rescue as a bit of an escape artist (she kept getting out of her enclosure in Tennessee, where she was found as a stray with another dog), so she'll need a secure 5-foot fence and a watchful eye to keep her safe. Housebroken and kennel trained, Ellie is well-mannered in the home and knows basic commands like "sit." She walks well on leash and is good for grooming and car rides. With a moderate activity level, Ellie enjoys running and playing in the yard and occasionally wrestling with other dogs, but she's pretty lazy during the day and loves nothing more than napping around the house—especially in front of doors or wherever you happen to be standing! Her long, soft fur is perfect for petting, and she adores head scratches and sweet talking. Ellie is wonderful with dogs of all sizes and an excellent alert barker, to let you know when new people first arrive. She warms up to visitors quickly, loving the attention they offer her! She prefers being inside where she can stay close and keep you company, though she also loves curling up in her favorite bed. Ellie enjoys toys, particularly chew toys and bones, and would thrive in a home with another dog for companionship. This adaptable, boss-lady Pyr is ready to bring endless love and gentle snuggles to her forever family! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
