Makani is a young cat with a gentle soul, a wild streak, and a deep need for safety and stability. She came to us as the devoted mother of Zoe and Odin—both of whom are now thriving in loving homes. While her kittens blossomed with confidence, Makani has remained fearful and guarded, never quite learning to trust people during her time with us.Though she’s small and undeniably adorable, Makani does not want to be touched or handled—and she will strike out when frightened. Her behavior comes from fear, not malice, but she makes it very clear that she values her space. Because of this, she’s best suited to a home without children, with experienced and understanding cat guardians who can respect her boundaries.Makani truly shines in the company of other cats. She loves snuggling with her feline companions and finds comfort and confidence in their presence. She would thrive in a multi-cat household—or better yet, in a setting where she can live more freely without pressure from humans.Given her fearful behavior and her wild, independent nature, Makani would be best suited as a barn cat or in a home with safe, secure indoor/outdoor access (like a catio, enclosed yard, or rural property). She may never be a lap cat, but she deserves a peaceful life on her own terms.
