At 1.5 years old, she has decided the world revolves around three things: Celly, food, and Celly again (in that order). She is not a toy cat. She is a food cat. Wave a treat pouch and watch the transformation: the aloof queen suddenly becomes a polite, head-butting, leg-rubbing lovebug who will allow—nay, demand—chin scratches, cheek rubs, and full-body pets while she waits for tribute. Once the snack transaction is complete, affection levels return to “maybe, if I’m in the mood.” Her purr is rare and precious, like finding a twenty in an old coat pocket. Picking her up? Permitted, briefly, on royal decree. She’ll tolerate a few seconds of elevation with regal dignity, then politely wriggle down to resume ruling from ground level.
