Animal Profile: Melody is an adorable Chihuahua mix who joined us from Modesto, CA on 2/13/2025. She is dog and people friendly, and was kenneled with other small dogs in the shelter. Foster Update:  Meet Melody, affectionately called "Bunny" in her foster home. She is a sweet and sassy chihuahua-terrier mix. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and is curious about cats—she just wants to play! A confident, dog-savvy cat could be a good match, but some felines might not appreciate her enthusiasm. Melody has plenty to say and would do best in a single-family home, where she can have her daily conversations without disturbing neighbors. While she’s friendly and sweet with everyone, she can get a bit mouthy during play, so a home without young children is ideal. Melody is happy to keep herself occupied with toys or a nice bone, but above all else she is just thrilled to sit and snuggle in your lap. She’s making great progress with house and crate training and is working on her leash manners. If you're looking for a fun, sassy sidekick, Melody might just be the one! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.
