More about Collette

NEW RESCUE #womancrushwednesday Meet Collette - A Sweet, Quirky Girl With a Cat‑Like Charm Collette is a sweet, sensitive, quirky little dog who just wants love, routine, and a calm environment. She’s loyal, affectionate, and deeply endearing in her own quiet way. With patience and kindness, she’ll reward you with trust, companionship, and all the soft, cat‑like sweetness you can imagine. Collette is a 3‑year‑old, 35 lbs. moderate‑energy sweetheart with a gentle soul and a big personality. She may start out shy, but once she trusts you, she becomes an incredibly affectionate companion who just wants to be close to her people. Personality & Temperament With her humans: Very friendly and loving once she warms up. She forms deep bonds and thrives with patient, kind people. With strangers: Initially skittish and may bark when meeting someone new indoors, but given time, she’ll come over for a sniff and eventually relax. With kids: Best suited for homes with kids age 10+ and are patient with shy dogs. With dogs: Gets along well with other dogs and has done great in group settings! A slow intro is always helpful but not necessarily required. With cats: Not aggressive, but she does show interest in them on walks. Likely best in a no‑cat home or with careful management. Unique quirks: She has a cat‑like side—she may rest under the bed, gently place her paws on your chest for pets, and quietly observe the world around her. What She Loves Chewing: Yak cheese bars (her absolute favorite!), sticks, and bones. She rarely chews items that aren’t hers and is very respectful with toys. Comfort: Belly rubs, cozy spaces, her kennel, and hanging out under the bed. Activities: Daily walks, gentle adventures, exploring the outdoors with her humans. Ideal Home Collette will thrive in a home that offers: A yard for zoomies when she has bursts of energy. A calm, patient family who understands her gentle, sometimes anxious nature. A doggie door is a bonus—she likes the security of being able to come back inside when she’s ready. Older kids and possibly another friendly dog companion. Training & Habits Collette is house-trained. She needs to go out first thing in the morning; waiting too long may lead to accidents. She knows how to use a doggie door and used one in a previous home. Collette prefers being inside unless someone is out in the yard with her. Rarely barks, even with neighboring dogs. Sleeps in her kennel each night—it’s her safe and cozy space, always treated as positive, never as punishment. Adventures & Behavior Has gone camping and does great off-leash with other dogs—she stays nearby and returns when called. If she slips out the front, she typically waits by the door rather than roaming. She truly loves her home and her people. Walks beautifully on a leash now and has made huge progress with confidence. She’s truly a special girl with a big heart—and she’s ready to share it with the right family. Apply to meet his cute girl: https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication
