More about Copper
Animal Profile: Copper is an estimated 4-year-old, 80 lb neutered male Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. He was originally picked up as a stray in Georgia and joined us via Project Freedom Ride. He was evaluated to be very friendly with dogs and people. Foster Update: Copper is fun-loving boy with a zest for life and a heart that's just waiting to be shared. He is happy to hang out on the couch but he's always ready for an adventure, a game of fetch, or any opportunity to spend time with his people. A little exercise goes a long way with Copper, and once he's had a chance to burn off some energy, he's happy to settle in and relax. One of Copper's favorite things in the world is chasing tennis balls. He's got the "chase" part mastered and puts his whole heart into it. The "bring it back and drop it" part is still a work in progress, but he approaches every game with such joy and determination that it's hard not to smile. Copper can be a little cautious when meeting new people, preferring to take a moment to assess the situation. Thankfully, the path to his heart is fairly straightforward—patience, kindness, and a few tasty treats tend to work wonders. Once he feels comfortable, his affectionate and loving personality shines through, and he quickly becomes a devoted companion. He's also shown that he can successfully live with other dogs. Copper currently shares his home peacefully with a medium-sized mixed-breed dog from Hawaii and a Min Pin mix. While he appreciates slow and thoughtful introductions, once relationships are established, he settles in nicely and enjoys being part of the pack. On walks, Copper is a pleasure to handle. He likes to lead the way and explore his surroundings, but he doesn't pull on leash. With a confident handler providing guidance, he remains calm around other dogs and focuses on enjoying the outing rather than worrying about what's happening around him. Copper is looking for a family that will continue helping him build confidence while embracing his playful spirit and affectionate nature. In return, he'll provide plenty of laughs, endless loyalty, and the kind of companionship that makes every day a little brighter. Adopter Profile: Single family dwelling with a securely fenced yard.
