Meet Slash — A Survivor with a Heart of GoldDon’t let his dramatic name fool you — Slash is one of the sweetest, most gentle souls you’ll ever meet. This handsome black gentleman came to us about 4½ years ago as a rough-around-the-edges stray with a story written right across his throat. He had a severe wound — likely from an old, badly abscessed bite — that stretched from ear to ear, and it took nearly a full year of dedicated veterinary care and patience before it fully healed. He still carries those scars today, but they’re just a reminder of how tough and resilient he truly is.Slash is FIV positive, but here’s what you should know: the science has come a long way. FIV is no longer the death sentence it once seemed. Most FIV-positive cats go on to live long, happy, healthy lives. Since Slash is neutered and very much a lover — not a fighter — the virus is barely a concern for other cats in the household. It’s transmitted primarily through deep bite wounds, and Slash has zero interest in that. He’s all about snuggles.Since being with us, Slash has had a full dental cleaning and senior bloodwork done, and everything came back looking great. He enjoys wet food daily (a little something to look forward to!) and a quality dry food to help maintain his weight. Overall, he’s in good health and good spirits.What Slash really needs now is simple: a family to call his own.
