Animals are tended twice daily, 365 days a year, by volunteers working alongside the Animal Control Officer, with veterinary care, vaccinations, testing, and spay/neuter services funded through the nonprofit Mansfield Shelter Friends, Inc. rather than town funds. The shelter also runs a Pet Food Pantry for owners needing assistance and maintains a memorial garden where visitors can honor pets that have passed.
