Cattails Feline Rescue in Leroy, IL
Cattails Feline Rescue is a cat rescue located in Leroy, Illinois, in McLean County, about 50 miles northwest of Peoria, IL, and shares the county with 6 other area animal shelters and rescues. Founded in July 2006 by Dr. Gretchen Reid after she witnessed how few cats were reclaimed by owners at an animal control facility, it operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, limited-intake, no-kill organization. The rescue takes cats exclusively from animal control facilities that lack their own adoption services, rather than accepting owner-relinquished animals or intake from outside sources, in order to focus its resources on saving cats otherwise facing euthanasia. It has no paid staff, so all funds raised through adoptions and donations go directly toward the care of the cats.
